Description

  • height 28 in.; width 31 1/2 in.; depth 16 1/2 in.
  • 71.1 cm; 80 cm; 41.9 cm
the top removeable and rising on a ratchet to form a reading slope and concealing a drawer with a velvet-lined backgammon board, the curved ends sliding and twisting to reveal small compartments for writing implements and game counters, and fitted below with a panel, one side inlaid with a games board, the other formerly baize-lined, the ends of lyre form on downswept supports with brass paw footed casters joined by a platform stretcher, the whole inlaid with brass lines and leur-de-lys.  Formerly with a work bag.

Condition

Overall restored condition, with some minor chips and patches to the veneers, lacking one metal rod to on lyre form support, old repaired break to one side of lyre support, lacking lower pull out slide, overall with some old marks, scratches, scuffs and bruises consistent with age and use.
