the circular molded frame with bead and real and pierced diaper ornament, the convex mirror plate within an ebonized reeded slip, the crest formed as an eagle with outspread wings above two entwined snakes, the base with two scrolled candle arms above a foliate carved pendant. The eagle formerly ebonized beneath later gilding.
Condition
In unrestored condition. Appears to retain the original gilding which is in a dirty condition with some overgilding and touching-up with gold paint. Old age cracks to frame and carved elements overall and with losses to the gilding and gesso and extremities of the carving. The mirror plate appears to be original with some slight imperfections to the silvering.
