Description

the case surmounted by a shaped pediment with eagle surmounted metal finials above an arched door enclosing the two train movement with a silvered dial with a subsidiary seconds hand and a date aperture, inscribed William Bostock ISLINGTON within pierced foliate and mask cast brass spandrels and an arched panel painted with a seated figure fishing by a riverside cottage, decorated overall in shaded raised gilding with foliate and decorative bands, the door with an oriental landscape with gardens, pagodas, terraces and figures.  Japanning refreshed, the painted scene formerly an automaton, restorations.  

Condition

The japanned decoration overall showing extensive old restorations and with minor chips and losses, some over-gilding in places, the painted scene formerly an automaton, door to long case bowed and now with a temporary wooden stop to the interior, side panels slightly bowed, overall with some old marks and scratches.
