Overall the condition of the bronze is very good. There is wear to the surface consistent with age and handling, particularly to the drapery at the back of Venus. There is some minor scratching to the surface, particularly to the right elbow of Venus. The regular hole in Cupid's left hand suggests he may be missing an attribute, an old peg protrudes from his left hip. The folds of the drapery at the front of Venus have collected some dirt. The ebonised wood base has some minor worming.
