Condition

The work is in good condition. Minor craqueleur fill around the horse and gentleman. Light craquelure and pressing throughout. The wash in the clouds at top right and the strengthening throughout is very minor. Overall this work is in good condition.

Catalogue Note

Roland Hill was appointed the first Viscount in 1842 after a most distinguished military career, rising to the title of General Commander in Chief. For many years he was the Member of Parliament for Shrewsbury and lived nearby at Hardwicke Grange.
