Catalogue Note

first edition of Ludolf's Amharic-Latin dictionary. His Ethiopic-Latin dictionary and Ethiopic grammar were both first printed by Thomas Roycroft in London in 1661 (see Macclesfield English, lot 4126; see also Macclesfield Travel and Atlases, lots 3206 & 3207, for Ludolf's history of Ethiopia in Latin and English).
