Catalogue Note

This characteristic academic nude by Ubaldo can be compared with a number of other examples, in particular one in the Cini Foundation, Venice, where the same model appears.1 In her discussion of the Venice sheet, Mimi Cazort suggests that this model, with his thick curly hair, was one of Gandolfi's favourites, who can be recognized in several of the artist's drawings and paintings.
