Description
held in a silver-gilt oklad, the St. Mikhail painted in oil, withsilver filigree wings, dressed in robes and with vari-coloured cloisonné enamel halo, the border cast and chased with scrolling foliage and set to each corner with enamelled friezeswithin white beaded borders and applied with plaque with inscription in Cyrillic, with workmaster's initials, 84 standard
Condition
There are minor losses to the enamel friezes and halo, some restored. There is further rubbing in the enamel, however it does not distract from the overall appearance of the object. The filigree appears to be in overall good condition. The gilding is worn as expected with age and there are two very minor cracks to the floral decoration along the left border. The residues of silver polish are visible throughout. This is an atractive and rare piece in overall good condition consistent with age.
