Catalogue Note
This shape of tray is known from 1763 and may have been introduced in 1762. It is variously referred to as plateau losange à jour, plateau losange à jour à anse and plateau losange à anses à batons rompus.
Only one other example dated 1763 is recorded today, in the Pierpont Morgan collection at the Wadsworth Atheneum (Linda Roth, French Eighteenth Century Porcelain at the Wadworth Atheneum, 2000, n° 89, p 190).
King Louis XV bought a unspecified déjeuner losange in December 1763 for 528 livres (Archives MNS, Vy4 fol. 156).
Two déjéuner losange with tea components are at the Wallace collection (Rosalind Savill, Catalogue of Sèvres Porcelain, Vol. II, C391-400 and C396-400, pp. 603-614) and a 1773 dark bleu ground déjeuner losange was sold by Sotheby's London 2nd December 2004, lot 31
