Description

  • 101cm. high, 98cm. wide, 37cm. deep; 3ft. 3¼in., 3ft. 2¼in., 1ft. 2in.
with a three-quarter galleried veined grey and white marble top above three drawers, the fall-front opening to reveal a leather-lined writing surface with a pigeon hole flanked on each side by two short drawers, one fitted for writing implements, the lower section with one long and two short drawers, the kneehole flanked by a cupboard door, on turned tapering legs terminating in gilt-bronze toupie feet, the whole inlaid with floral swags with ribbon-tied gilt-bronze mounts depicting trophies representing Architecture

Condition

Marble top possibly replaced. Escutcheon probably later. Some minor restorations to the veneer. Evidence of previous castors. Some very minor sections of the veneer missing. The tip of the arched section on both sides of the kneehole restored. Some splits and restored cracks. There are horizontal hairline cracks on the inside of the kneehole, which can easily be filled. Some bubbling to the veneer at the back. The gallery is possibly later. In overall good, conserved condition.
