the arched cresting with an acanthus spray, flanked on either side by a dolphin with a wicker basket of flowers at each corner above a rectangular plate, the stiles with pierced capitals, flanked by a dolphin head, the apron with an acanthus spray on tapering feet, the whole carved with acanthus rocaille, scrolls, flowers and foliage
Provenance
Partridge Fine Arts, London
Condition
Old very minor restorations to carving commensurate with age, which have been very well executed. There is a horizontal break in glass at the top of the side borders on both, as visible from the catalogue photograph, but this is not too noticeable due to the carving at the top. One of the right hand scrolls covering this break is missing, also visible in the catalogue photograph. Some minor hairline cracks in the giltwood generally commensurate with age. Some wooden strengtheners at the back. An attractive lot in overall good condition.
