  • various date-letters and painter's marks from 1763-95
each piece painted with colourful scattered sprigs of flowers within blue-edged feuille-de-choux cartouches below gilt dentil rim, comprising:
-sixty plates (24.5cm.) one broken in two, two with cracks
-twenty-two soup plates (24.1cm.)
-three ice-pailes with covers and liners (21.6cm.) one cover and one liner damaged
-twelve ice-cups (6.4cm.)
-three sauce tureens (15.8cm.)
-two shallow bowls (22.5cm.)
-two salts (8cm.)
-eight square bowls (21.6cm)
-twelve shell-shape dishes (22.2cm.)
-five salad dishes (23.5cm. and 26.7cm.)

Condition

General note: as the service is matched, there is some overall variance in the tone of blue and gilding. Sixty plates: One plate has been broken in half. One plate has been broken in half and riveted. Seventeen plates have a single chip to the rim with minor re-gilding and some typical wear to the gilding and enamels. Sixteen plates have two or more chips to the rim, with minor restoratin and re-gilding and some typical wear to the gilding and enamels. Twenty-four plates are in overall good condition with minor wear to gilding and enamels. Three Ice-pails: One has a small chip to the outside rim, approx. 0.5cm. by 0.3cm. Another has a very shallow chip to the underside of the handle, approx. 1cm. by 0.75cm. and a haircrack across the handle. Some re-gilding and re-painting to the blue enamel. Otherwise in overall good condition with typical minor wear. Liners: One liner has two large sections broken out of the rim, approx. 3ins. by ¾in. and 2in. by ¾in. The other two liners in overall good condition. Covers: One cover has extensive riveted cracks and a loose section out of the im, approx. 4in. by 1½in. The other two covers in good condition. Twelve ice cups: Two types of gilt border ( dentil and line) One cup has a minor rim chip. Another has extensive wear to the gilt rim. Another has two rim chips, the largest approx. 3mm. by 2mm. Nine cups in overall good condition with very minor wear. Three sauce tureens: Two tureens in overall good condition. The third tureen has a shallow chip to the footrim, approx. 1cm. by 2mm. Tureen covers: One handle is a plaster restoration which has broken off. The other two in overall good condition. Two shallow bowls: One bowl has a chip to the rim, approx. 2cm. by 1cm. and some minor wear to the gilding. The other bowl has quite a lot of wear to the gilding and to the blue enamel. Two salts: One salt has extensive wear to the gilding on the rim. The other with minor nicks around the footrim. Eight square bowls; Five bowls in overall good condition with minor wear. The other three with extensive wear to the gilding. Twelve shell shaped dishes. Three are of different form to the others and are later replacements, not Sevres. One of these has riveted repairs and a large chip to the rim; another has chips to the rim and handles; the third has large chips to each handle. The remaining shell shaped dishes: one has been riveted: another has a large crack, approx. 5in. another has a glued repair to the handle and a chip to the rim; three have extensive wear to the gilding; three are in overall good condition with minor wear. Twenty-two soup plates: Twelve plates in overall good condition with minor wear. Five plates have a chip to the rim. One plate has a large riveted crack and a chip to the rim. Two plates have a long haircrack, approx. 8in. One plate has a fine haircrack. One plate is differently painted with trophies in the centre and swags of flowers on the border. Five salad Bowls ( four are 26.7cm wide and one is 23.5cm. wide ) One of the larger bowls has been broken in half and glued. Another has two shallow chips to the outside of the rim and scratches to the interior. All have some wear to the gilding.
