  • A FINE LACQUER SUZURIBAKO, 18TH / EARLY 19TH CENTURY
  • 28.8cm long, 27cm wide, original box bearing inscription
of rounded rectangular form, the cover decorated in gold hiramakie, takamakie and mura nashiji with details of kirigane on a roiro ground with a distant landscape and pine, maple and peach trees on the river bank, the interior with butterflies hovering over autumn plants, the slatted tray fitted with a suzuri and silver mizuire of lobed form

Condition

the exterior base of box has some surface scratches and wear to rim, the interior base has some light imprints from removable fitted sections, small paint losses to one of the side compartments, the central section possibly has some touching up to lacquer, minor oxidisation markings, overall condition good
