  • A 'BLANC-DE-CHINE' FIGURE OF DAMO (BODHIDHARMA) 18TH / 19TH CENTURY
  • 22.5cm high
the bald ascetic seated in lalitasana with his arms resting on his raised right knee, all hidden beneath the folds of his loosely draped robes apart from his protruding right foot, his bare chest revealing a beaded ruyi pendant and with a large beaded rosary draped over his shoulders, his head turned to the side well modelled with large eyes staring from beneath heavy curled brows, and a beard of tight curls around his slightly open mouth, the back with a square seal mark reading Puji Yuren

small glaze chip approximately 1/2 cm on hem below foot, rim frit on hem below left knee, otherwise good condition
