painted with three fruit-harvesters amidst a shepherd and his flock in a river landscape within a grisaille cell diaper band and a brown Y-diaper and black and gold ruyi-head border on the rim. Small hair crack.

Condition

A 1/2-inch patch of tiny chips at 3 o'clock on edge of rim, another similar patch of 3-4 tiny chips at 5 o'clock, small chip to footrim.

A teabowl and saucer in this unusual pattern are illustrated by Williamson, pl. XI (bottom, left), who refers to it on p. 38 as the "so-called Apple-picker's design." A 14-piece tea service in this pattern was sold at Sotheby's in London on May 6, 1986, lot 132.
