each bottle with a green dip ground applied with four oval lilac-ground medallions sprigged with cupids emblematic of the 'Four Seasons' suspending swags of fruiting grapevine, the shoulder with a border of berried laurel leaves and applied with four satyrs' masks beneath further floral swags suspended from ram's head masks and a beaded band around the neck, impressed WEDGWOOD. One restored.
Provenance
The Zeitlin Collection, Merion, Pennsylvania, nos. 16 and 17
Condition
Both with bodies of a pea-green color as if bleached, and not matching the upper necks, circular feet or covers; and there are firing cracks behind the four bearded heads, where they didn't adhere perfectly. The shoulders and lower bodies with brown speckling (perhaps some form of discoloration). The bottle with the more discoloration on the lower body has an approximate 4-in. section of the foot broken out and restored back. The other apparently OK.
