Catalogue Note
Drawings of similar examples appear in a mid-19th century John Hardman catalogue in the collection of Paul Reeves (p. 41, illustrated below). A closely related corona lucis with lobed sides was made for the library of Pugin's 1844 residence at The Grange, Ramsgate, Kent, which his son Peter Paul illustrated in a sketch of 1868, and a further three-tiered example appears in Pugin's 1844 sketches of ecclesiastical ornament (Megan Aldrich et al, A.W.N. Pugin, Master of Gothic Revival, New York, 1995, pp. 180-181, 316).
