the reverse with enamelled trade label 'William Watt, Art Furniture Warehouse, 21 Grafton St , Gower St, London W.C'
- 40cm. high by 35cm. wide;
- 1ft 3¾in., 1ft 1¾in.
ebonised mahogany, the bevelled rectangular mirror plate within a moulded frame with painted triple-line decoration, mounted with hooks for wall mounting and a ratchet system for tabletop use

Condition
A rare and important piece of good overall appearance. Minor old marks and scratches consistent with age and use. The enamel label with haircracks and some rost to the screws. A circular mark to the silvering towards the top of the right hand corner of the mirror. A good example by the sought-after designer, in good honest condition.

Catalogue Note
This mirror, the only known example of its kind, displays the gold line decoration seen throughout the William Watt catalogue and described by Godwin in an article on his own furniture, "My Chambers and What I Did to Them", which he published in The Architect, vol. 16 (1-8 July 1876), pp. 4-5, 18-19.
