- A mantel timepiece
- 23.5cm. high by 23cm. wide by 12cm. diameter;
- 9 1/4 in., 9in., 4 3/4 in.
oak and inlaid woods, the circular dial with a macassar ebony face within a waisted body, the lower part inlaid with three fish
Condition
A decorative clock. The colour in the catalogue is a fair representation of the colour of the piece. Some scratching to the surface in places. The fish eyes are picked out in shell. Two indistinct inscriptions in ink to the underside of the base, one reads 'C6712C1180N(?)' the other 'U95B'.

A mantel clock designed by Ashbee with a similar dial was exhibited by Wylie & Lochhead at the Glasgow International Exhibition in 1901, and a photograph of the clock was published in The Studio, vol. 23 (June 1901), p. 170 (seen on the left).
