- A reclining armchair
- 102cm. high by 62cm. wide by 86cm. deep (upright);
- 3ft 4in., 2ft 1/2 in., 2ft 9 3/4 in.
mahogany with ebony inlay, green velvet upholstery, adjustable back and seat, pierced and chamfered X-form sides, the feet with brass castors
Condition
A decorative piece in honest but used condition. Old marks and scratches overall. Uphostery worn and with extensive repairs. Velvet to back replaced and with some losses. Ratched mechanism in working order. This practical piece would benefit from an overhaul.

For a nearly identical chair see Jeremy Cooper, Victorian & Edwardian Furniture & Interiors, London, 1987, fig. 267. He notes that the firm of Marsh & Jones licensed the 'New Registered Reclining Chair', which Bevan first advertised in the trade press of 1865.
