  • 3ft 7in., 2ft 6¼in., 2ft 2in.
oak, the back with a curved triple splat, spreading arms, drop-in seat, on square tapering legs

Literature

An identical chair can be seen in a photograph of a Cheyne Walk interior, The Studio Yearbook of Decorative Art, 1907, p. 47, see below. A side chair with inlaid splat is illustrated, Der Moderne Stil, vol. 7 (1905), pl. 8, fig. 6.

Condition

An attractive chair of generous proportions in good condition. Colour is slightly darker than implied by catalogue illustration. Some old marks and scratches, especially around edges and feet, but these are not serious. Piece has been repolished. Seat later upholstered. Joints very slightly loose. Inside top edge of left arm (facing) slightly lighter colour than the rest. A classic example ready for use and display.
