Description
- A fire surround
- 180cm. high by 220cm. wide
- 5ft 10¾in., 7ft 2¾in.
stained softwood, the overhanging cornice above an arched central shelf, on two flaring columns, with pierced detail
Condition
An impressive piece. Old marks, scratches and knicks consistent with age and use. One or two minor traces of woodworm in places. The central medallion has a vertical split as can be seen in the catalogue illustration. The right hand column support has been broken and somewhat crudely reattached. Pieces made from stained beechwood. 10 cm section of timber loose to the base of right side. A striking and unusual model.
