Zwei Walliser Mädchen sind bei der häuslichen Arbeit dargestellt. Sie haben vermutlich gerade Tücher in die schön geschnitzte Holztruhe gelegt. Das Schaffen von Ernest Biéler ist einerseits wegen der Darstellungen der Savièser Bevölkerung und andererseits wegen der minutiös wiedergegebenen Details bekannt und bei Sammlern gefragt. Bei diesem reizvollen und farbfrischen Interieur mit zwei jungen Frauen handelt es sich um eines der schönsten und eindrücklichsten Werke des Malers.
