- height 4 1/4 in. (10.9cm)
rectangular with cut-corners, decorated with champlevé pale blue enamel in Mooresque patterns and set with faceted colored stones, the front mounted with a silver cameo of Apollo in his chariot, the back with a vestal virgin at an altar, scroll handles topped by exotic birds, finial in the form of a cupid on celestial sphere, all mounted on four dragon supports with entwined tails, apparently unmarked
Condition
cupid may have held a bow, some rubbing to high spots, soft solder repairs inside behind one handle and scratches inside cover
