Condition
The canvas is original. The reverse suggests an old restoration towards the centre of the right edge. There is craquelure and stretcher marks to the paint surface. Some very light abrasions to the surface in the extreme lower right corner. Otherwise in good condition. Ultraviolet light reveals some minor infilling to craquelure in the sitter's face and neck. Further retouching possible beneath the uneven varnish and a slightly heightened signature. Held in a decotartive gold painted composite frame in fair condition.
