A pair of Royal Doors, 18th century

richly carved with raised, scrolling leaves, set with six medallions, the left door depicting from top to bottom: Mary, the Mother of God, the Apostle Matthew and the Apostle Luke, the right door depicting from top to bottom: the Angel Gabriel, the Apostle John and the Apostle Mark

The vignettes show evidence of light craquelure and a few flecks of paint loss. There is some surface dirt and a few patches of restoration. The wood has some cracks and scratches and shows signs of wear in places. There is a bit of wood missing to the top of the left hand door on the reverse and the wood is slightly chipped at the top of the right hand door. We believe that these doors were possibly once gilded. In overall good condition.
