- 31.5 by 27cm., 12 1/2 by 10 1/2 in.
the robes of the Virgin and Child highlighted in gilt against a muted green ground, the oklad with robes formed from seed pearls mounted with rose-cut and old mine diamond-set stars, the four corners and halo enamelled in similar style, with silver-gilt frame chased with a raised foliate relief within cloisonné enamel borders, 84 standard, held in a gilt frame and customised kyot
Condition
The icon is in overall good condition. The various components are slightly loose and should be handled with care, one of the seed pearls has come away.
UV light reveals no damage to the enamel.

Catalogue Note
Ivan Philipovich Tarabrov was a well known workmaster and the owner of a workshop of gold and silversmiths from 1893-1913. By 1897 he had forty-six silversmiths working for him specialising in works of art ranging from tea-glass holders to oklads for icons. For another icon in this sale by Ivan Tarabrov see lot 286.
