Condition

Overall the condition of the marble is good. There is wear to the surface consistent with age. The statue is weathered which is particularly apparent on the shoulder, head and face. There are several inclusions and veins to the surface consistent with the material, particularly to the right cheek and right side of the forehead. There are chips to the right hand side including a chip to the collar at the right shoulder, the top of the head, the lock of hair at the right temple and the scarf. The nose has been restored in a different material and there are restorations to the locks of hair to the sides of the face. With wear consistent with age and use.

The original bronze by Jacques, from which this marble bust was modelled is held in the Arsenal, Kronstadt just outside St. Petersburg.
