A Caucasian silver-mounted shasqua, Musaev, late 19th - early 20th century

Description

  • length of blade: 81.2cm., 32in.
with curved fullered blade etched with foliage and the crowned Imperial cypher for Nicholas II on one side and Musaeva on the other side, silver hilt of characteristic form chased with scrolling patterns of foliage on a recessed ground enriched with niello and set within a filigree frame, in its leather covered wooden scabbard with large shaped silver mounts en suite including suspension band with its ring and the inner decorated with sprays of niello foliage 

Condition

There are minor dents to the hilt. The leather on the scabbard is worn and is cracked along the outer edge and there is further damage to the niello bands.
