Condition
The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
This painting has been quite recently restored and could be hung as is. It is painted on artist's board and there are two small original additions on the left and right side, both approximately an half an inch wide. There is restoration on both sides to address these additions. There may also be a third addition running across the bottom edge across the signature. Apart from the restoration that focuses on these joins, there are just a few dots in the sky. Other than this, the picture is in very good state.

Catalogue Note
The present lot was painted from memory of a pond in Ukraine that the artist frequented before 1880. He executed this painting in his studio in Brussels in 1923, the year of his death.
