The following condition report has been provided by Simon Parkes of Simon Parkes Art Conservation, Inc. 502 East 74th St. New York, NY 212-734-3920, simonparkes@msn.com , an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. This painting on board is in very healthy condition, particularly given the fickle nature of some of these pigments. The picture is uncleaned, unvarnished and most likely unrestored, which is appropriate. The gold pigment around the figures in red in the center and to a lesser degree, the silver around some of the architectural elements on the right and left, has cracked slightly, yet it does not appear to be unstable and should be left as is. Although there is some debris underneath the glass, there does not appear to be any noticeable damage to the picture itself and the condition overall seems to be excellent.
