TWO STAFFORDSHIRE PEARLWARE FIGURES OF A GARDENER'S COMPANION AND AN ARCHER CIRCA 1820-25

Description

  • heights 8 1/2 in. and 7 in.
  • 21.6 cm; 17.8 cm
each modeled standing before a flowering bocage on an oval mound base. Some chips and minor restoration.

Condition

The gardener figure in generally good condition apart from a minor small chip to one leaf at the back of the bocage and several very minor pinhead chips or abrasions to the edges of the leaves. The left branch of the Archer's bocage had been restored, most of that resoration now broken away and the tip of a leaf at the top is restored; the bottom portion of the branch on the right is chipped away, the break touched-up in green; there is some minor flaking to the green enamel on the edge of the base at the front and on the back of the bocage; and there are some minor flakes to the black of her shoes.
