Condition
Tarnishing in places. Dirt and scratches and oxidation throughout resulting in dots to surface; some oxidation to waves. Extensively cleaned resulting in overall wear to gilding. Missing liner, bottom pierced.

Catalogue Note
As well as being a successful sculptor, Chalon was an illustrator and a painter. He began exhibiting at the Salon in 1887 and studied under Lefebvre and Boulanger at the École des Beaux-Arts, winning several medals throughout his career.
