Condition
Overall in good original condition with the usual wear to patina in places. Light scratches and dents consistent with age. Traces of an old sticker to the base.

Catalogue Note
"Nothing could have been more in keeping with the taste of the Second Empire than this voluptuous nymph, who reaches up to anoint a herm of Bacchus, exposing the full length of her body, like a bow strung to a pedestal." (Hargrove, p. 46) The original life-size marble, which stood in the Tuileries until 1984, is now in the Musée D'Orsay (RF143).
