Description

  • overall 73.5 cm. high
the dark blue ground partly gilt centred on one side with a portrait of the Emperor, on the other with a view of the Royal Palace in Berlin, applied with porcelain handles, composed of six separate pieces, signed in underglaze blue and manganese

Condition

In overall good condition with minor wear to the gilding and minor light surface scratching. The handles apparently wanting an upper section, one handle missing part of wing, one small foliate section missing, another re-stuck. Larger hairline crack to upper part of the neck, one larger chip to underside rim (circa 5 by 1.5cm.), minor chips to the lower rim due to attachment mechanism. Gilt decoration to underside of rim missing. Considerable loss of gilding to surround of palace view.
