Description

  • the large oval serving dishes: 42.5 by 57 cm.
including a painted Meissen group of Mercury riding on a chariot drawn by a pair of black eagles; a pair of biscuit porcelain figures representing Leda and the Swan and Jupiter; another group allegorical for Ganymede and a fourth biscuit group modelled with Father Time; six large oval serving dishes, Berlin, late 19th century; four Berlin porcelain serving dishes painted in manganese with flowers; the lot also including two soup terrines and various other cups and dishes

Condition

Sold as is, as seen in the catalogue image: left tureen with cracks to the bowl, losses to the raised parts of the decoration to cover. Right tureen: restored cracks, one larger chip to the rim, one handle chipped. Dishes: overall good, minor wear, few minor chips to rims and footrims. The groups and figures: some chips, losses and repairs, especially to extremities. Mercury: overall good, one wing to eagle missing, smaller losses.
