Description
- the first: 165 by 130 cm.
the saffron-coloured ground of linen and worked in coloured silk thread and silver thread with numerous flowering plants forming a regular pattern, centred by an oval rosette, the border formed by wreaths tied with ribbons, fringes of silk and metal thread; together with a hooded cloak of black wool applied with gilt-metal thread and minute coral beads; further combined with a Turkish rectangular shawl of bright red coloured cloth worked in gilt-metal thread with flowers and leaves forming the border and the sultan's Tughra at either end; further combined with a Turkish boy's vest and waistband and four further embroidered panels
Condition
In overall good condition, slightly soiled, slight discoloration to the centre. Small tears, especially close to borders.
Together with a black and embroidered shoulder scarf (overall in good condition, slightly soiled, borders partly missing); a red scarf (losses to the fringes, traces of moth pest); small yellow and embroidered cloth (fragmentary, finged borders, otherwise good); children's vest and belt (overall good); gold embroidered veil (overall good, slightly yellowed, minor tears, minor damages to embroidery); cloack of black wool (overall good, minor wear and tears, few losses to the beads, one tassel loose, traces of old moth pest).
