Description

  • Ansel Adams
  • 'yosemite valley' (yosemite valley, summer)
mounted, signed by the photographer in pencil on the mount, the 'Special Edition of Fine Prints, Photographs of Yosemite' stamp, the series number '1,' and titled by the photographer in ink on the reverse, matted, circa 1935-36, printed later, no. 54 in an unspecified edition (Our National Parks, p. 61; Yosemite: Ansel Adams, p. 23; Ansel Adams at 100, pl. 87; 400 Photographs, p. 133)

Condition

This print, on semi-matte paper with cool tones, is on a beige mount with a smooth surface. It is in generally excellent condition. There is a minute nick at the upper edge near the left side. When examined in raking light, a tiny deposit of what appears to be original retouching is visible left of center. The mount is lightly soiled and exhibits slight age-darkening at the right edge. There are small, faint rust-colored droplet-shaped deposits on the reverse.
