Description

- Construction of a viaduct on the Paris-Marseille railway, c. 1855-58
Salt print, mounted on original card. With the photographer's signature stamp at lower right on the mount.
Literature
Daniel, M. 1991.
Daniel, M. 1994.
Condition
The card mount has a tear of just less than 5cm in the upper right. The mount is very lightly discoloured. The image lightly faded overall and with a further degree of light yellowing at the lower and right margins. A small area of the scaffolding at the skyline is obscured as if by damage in the negative, the effect certainly not recent, and possibly contemporary with the image; an interesting artefact upon whose origins we are not able to speculate. Overall a print in very good condition.
