Catalogue Note
When Man Ray came to Stuttgart in 1963 to produce the Rayographs portfolio with Peter Schubert, he met the photographer and graphic designer Anton Stankowski, and the two artists became friends. According to the Stankowski Foundation, the copy offered here was a gift to Stankowski from Man Ray who himself added two more prints (illustrated on this page).
The portfolio was exhibited in 2007 in the Kunsthalle Erfurt.
