Description
- Charles Jones
- 'Carnations Mixed' and 'Lupinus Polyphyllus'. Two studies, c. 1900
Toned silver prints, each titled and initalled by the artist in pencil upon the reverse .
Literature
Sexton, S. 1998.
Condition
Each image made on the glossy paper favoured by Jones, and each showing extensive retouching. The surfaces are lightly marked only. The image of Lupins has, however, a succession of fingermarks up each side. The cracked plate referred to in the catalogue note is clearly visible in the print, a sharp divide veering up from the lower edge to the lower right side, with a tributary crack also visible. Overall condition of these prints is nice.

Catalogue Note
Jones must have felt that his image of carnations was a success, since he has taken the trouble to make this print from a cracked plate, clearly visible at the lower edge.
