Condition

Very good overall condition. Small hole on the left cheek of the character in the centre visible on the picture. No repaints showing under the UV light.

Catalogue Note

Formé à l'Académie Royale des Beaux-Arts de Liège, Deckers s'affirme très tôt comme un excellent portraitiste. A partir de 1920, date à laquelle il découvre l'Algérie, il partage sa vie entre ce pays et sa Belgique natale. Peintre des moeurs algériennes, il s'est attaché à représenter les peuples et ethnies d'Algérie dans des portraits lumineux, d'un réalisme qui rappelle la peinture hollandaise.
