"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The canvas is lined and the paint layer is stable. Apart from an old restored damage to the cloud upper left and one or two minor un-restored losses, upper left and along the bottom, the painting is in a good untouched condition with well preserved impasto. There is a slight hint of abrasion to the shadows of the male figure's coat. The varnish is discoloured and the tonal quality would improve with its removal. Offered in a modern gilt wood frame, minor chips."

This painting was executed during the artist's sojourn in Italy from 1790-93.
