The catalogue illustration is representative. There is a strip lining under the stretcher but otherwise the canvas is unlined. The painting is offered in a painted gold frame which is in good condition. A vertical seam runs vertically 12 cms from the left margin, as visible in the catalogue illustration. There is a small patch to the reverse of the canvas lower centre. To the naked eye the paint surface is generally secure, with very minor scattered discoloured retouchings, and under a patchy varnish. The paint is a little thin in some of the darker and background areas. There is a patch of restoration upper left above the tree. Scattered retouchings are visible under ultraviolet light but the thick varnish impedes satisfactory understanding.
