Condition
This fine 16th-century copper has a faithful reproduction in the catalogue, though the background is more contrasted in the image. The paint surface is secure with some light losses on the figure of the Madonna, on her left sleeve (some of which have been retouched), above the child, and around the child's foot where the support has come through. These are all visible in the catalogue illustration. Inspcetion under UV lgiht reveals just a few minimal retouchings to the sky. The painting is offered in a later carved gilt frame with some chips.
