Condition
The paintings are less red and slightly lighter in tone than the catalogue illustration. The canvases all have old relinings. the second and third canvases have horizontal seams in the canvases across the centre. All canvases have suffered surface abrasions and scratches, but particuarly the hatrbour scene. The paint surfaces, which are covered in a layer of dirt and discoloured varnish, are in good condition. Inspection under ultraviolet light reveals scattered retouching to all four canvases and strengthening to the architecture to all as well.
