Condition
The canvas has a firm relining. The paint surface is secure. Inpsction under UV light reveals some scattered strengthenings and retouchings. Offered in a carved wood gilt frame.

This painting bore a traditional attribution to Napoleon's aide, the French neo-classical painter Jean-Baptiste-Joseph Wicar (Lille 1762-1834 Paris).
