Condition
"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's.
The original canvas is lined and the paint layer is unstable and raised. There are visible abraded areas of paint, including the shadows and the finer details of the flowers, particularly the glazes; these have been augmented and are now discoloured. Other areas affected include the bronze relief, the shadow to the ledge and the shadows of the flowers. The canvas texture is visible through the thinned paint in some areas. There is further loss and discoloured restoration to the background. The highlights are well preserved, however, and most of the details are in a recoverable state. The varnish is discoloured.
Offered in a carved gilt wood frame."
