"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The oak panel has a recently restored central horizontal join which is stable. The painting, generally, is in a good original condition, there are some minor restorations to be detected in the sky and the foreground and the dominant ground colour coming through the horse's body has been reduced. The crisp quality to the paint, particularly the impasto, is to be praised. Offered in a good ebonised frame."
