Circle of Gillis Mostaert and Circle of Jacob Grimmer

"The following condition report has been provided by Henry Gentle, an independent restorer who is not an employee of Sotheby's. The oak panel is in a well preserved condition, stable and flat, with a small consolidated split, lower left, along the bottom edge. Some elements have been extensively augmented such as the water, parts of the sky and the houses where thin paint scumbles and glazes have been compromised; the faces of the figures are also a little worn. Some areas of the painting still have well preserved paint including the sky, upper right, the windmill and the trees. Removing the varnish will improve the tonality. Offered in a black painted frame in good condition."
